Pre-enrollment Tests

Initial Course Placement for English, Reading, & Mathematics

Cameron University uses ACT/SAT scores and an unweighted cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 7 semester or final high school transcript to determine placement in English, reading, mathematics, and science courses for first-time entering students who are under the age of 21.

Students with an ACT score of less than 19 in English, mathematics, or reading and an unweighted cumulative GPA less than 3.0 on a 7 semester or final high school transcript are required to take a developmental course in the subject area or be approved for placement in a collegiate level course based on performance on course placement tests (CPT).

Adult students (active duty military or students age 21 and older) may provide ACT or SAT test scores and/or a 7 semester or final high school transcript with an unweighted cumulative GPA to determine initial course placement. Without these documents, or with ACT sub-scores below 19 or an unweighted 7 semester or final high school cumulative GPA below 3.0, Accuplacer computerized course placement test(s) are required to determine initial course placement.
