Cameron Students posing for a picture on Campus

Undergraduate Research

The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Cameron University encourages students to become involved with undergraduate research in pure and applied mathematics and mathematics education. These projects offer a unique experience to learn mathematics beyond typical coursework and to further develop important skills in problem solving, independent and creative thinking, and presentation. Student involvement in research signals personal initiative, dedication, and intellectual curiosity, thereby distinguishing the student to potential employers and graduate schools.

The Department has initiated a Seminar for Undergraduate Mathematics. This seminar provides an opportunity to students who are engaged in research to give presentations, both as a means to share their results with their peers and the campus community at large and as a chance to hone their presentation abilities before traveling to conferences at the state, regional, and national levels.
