Current Assessment Activities


Direct Measures

All academic programs as well as general education use direct measures of student learning outcomes. Direct measures are those that result in a direct examination of the student’s work or performance. Although it is not always possible to achieve, programs are encouraged to use multiple types of direct measures as each type has strengths and weaknesses. Types of assessment measures include

  • Locally Developed Tests or Locally Developed Questions embedded in Tests
  • Standardized Tests
  • Writing Exams or Writing Assignments
  • Capstone Assignment, Portfolio, or Thesis
  • Internship or Student Teaching Evaluation
  • Certification or Licensure Exam
  • Performance or Presentation
  • Project
