Phi Sigma Iota
PHI SIGMA IOTA is an honor society whose members are elected from among outstanding advanced (juniors and seniors) under-graduate and graduate students of foreign languages and literatures including Classic, Comparative Literature, Philology, Bilingual Education, and Applied Linguistics, as well as faculties of the institutions honored with a Chapter.
PHI SIGMA IOTA honors undergraduate students with at least a B average in the entire college work as well as in all courses in languages, and graduate students with at least a B+ average.

Sigma Tau Delta
Sigma Tau Delta is an English honor society which offers scholarships to its members, supports the Cameron Forum, sponsors lectures and contests, and promotes interest in literature and the English language.

- 3.0 GPA in English/PRWR/LING courses
- 3.0 GPA overall

The Collegian & Aggie Central
The Cameron Collegian is the official student newspaper of Cameron University.
An operating free-press, the Collegian is available each Monday during the regular academic year. It is printed by the Lawton Constitution, and delivered across campus Monday afternoon.
The Collegian editorial staff is selected from CU undergraduate and graduate students. The entirety of the publication, from planning to publication, is managed by this student staff. The Collegian abides by the code of ethics and campus media statements outlined by the Society of Professional Journalists.

The Gold Mine
Cameron University’s Department of Communication, English and Foreign Languages publishes “The Gold Mine,” a CU student literary journal, once a year. Launched during the Spring 2010 semester, “The Gold Mine” provides Cameron students with a venue for their artistic work as well gives students experience in publishing
“The Gold Mine” features fiction, non-fiction, poetry, one-act plays, artwork and photo essays from CU students. All submissions must include the creator’s name, phone number, email address and type of submission. Literary works have a maximum length of 10 pages/3,000 words and must be submitted via a printed version. All artwork must be submitted on cd in jpeg format and must include an artist’s statement. Submissions are reviewed and selected for publication by the editorial staff and student readers.
Submissions can be dropped off at the Department of Communication, English and Foreign Languages, Nance Boyer Room 2014. Multiple submissions will be accepted.

Rose Journal
The Rose Journal is a Sigma Tua Delta sponsored literary and art journal. The Rose helps students to get their work published.

The Oklahoma Review
The Oklahoma Review is an online literary magazine published through the Department of English and Foreign Languages at Cameron University in southwest Oklahoma. Since the spring of 2000, The Oklahoma Review has published poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, translation and art from writers and artists from the United States and from around the globe.

ESports
The CU Pickaxes are CU’s varsity esports team. With a 50 person roster, the Pickaxes are competitive in Overwatch, League of Legends, Rocket League and Super Smash Bros. The esports arena in the Academic Commons is a state-of-the-art multimedia gaming facility with high performance gaming PCs, announcing booth, console game area and spectator seating.

CU Forensics
Cameron's Forensic program has been nationally ranked among Pi Kappa Delta senior colleges and universities since 1975 and has won two national championships at the Pi Kappa Delta National Speech and Debate Tournament in 1979 in St. Louis, Missouri and 1981 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Cameron has been ranked among the top ten schools in Pi Kappa Delta's national sweepstakes since 1977. The Pi Kappa Delta National Office was located at Cameron for a four year period when Tony Allison served on the National Council and served as the National Secretary-Treasurer for the organization from June 1981 to June 1985. In 1999, Mr. Eddie Skaggs was hired as Director of Forensics. He was elected by his peers to serve on the National Council of Pi Kappa Delta at the PKD National Convention and Tournament held in Fargo, ND, in 1999. The Speech and Debate team is open to any full-time undergraduate student. A student does not have to be Communication major. Speech team members must be considered in good standing academically. Scholarships are available for high school seniors and transfer students with forensics (speech and debate) experience.The team meets every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon during fall and spring semesters.

Cameron's Forensic Philosophy
Cameron's forensic philosophy emphasizes the intellectual and ethical growth of the student. Our goal is for each student to reach his/her potential expertise in critical thinking competency, listening competency, speaking competency, leadership competency, debating competency, performing literature, having positive interpersonal and small group skills, and having high ethical standards. A spirit of "enthusiasm and professionalism" is the image that the squad wants to project to the community and the university.
Winning awards, while fun and satisfying, is not the main purpose but only accompanies the development and achievement of the individual. Every student is encouraged to try as many different events as possible to gain this personal experience.
