Graduation

Cameron University posts degrees three times a year: May, July and December.

A degree is not automatically awarded when degree requirements are met. Each candidate must submit an application for graduation to the Registrar's Office the semester before they plan to graduate.

Undergraduate and graduate students may apply for graduation online by logging in to their AggieAccess account and selecting the "Graduation Application" link located within the "My Info" tab. It can be found by scrolling down to the bottom right-hand corner. Please contact the Registrar’s Office if you have questions during the online application process

Once your application has been received, the Registrar’s Office will begin the degree audit process. Results will be emailed to the student within 2-4 weeks.

Commencement is conducted in May of each year. All undergraduate and graduate students who have completed graduation requirements the prior December, or who expect to complete graduation requirements in May, July or upcoming December are eligible to participate in the commencement ceremony. Participation in the commencement ceremony does not indicate that graduation requirements have been met. Students may visit the Commencement website for further details regarding the ceremony.

The Hooding ceremony is available for graduate students who are eligible for graduation. Please refer to the graduate university catalog for specific hooding requirements. Students may visit the Hooding website for further details regarding the ceremony.

In April, the Registrar's Office will send the Graduation Times Newsletter to graduates with information pertaining to the commencement exercise.

At the end of each semester, an audit of each degree check is conducted and if all requirements have been completed, a degree is awarded. If the audit shows deficiencies in completing degree requirements, a letter is sent to the student identifying the deficiencies. Diplomas are mailed within 6-8 weeks of the end of the semester.

Recognition of Honor Graduates

Graduating baccalaureate and associate degree candidates with superior academic records are accorded special recognition by the University. A student who has achieved a cumulative GPA of 4.00 graduates “summa cum laude”, one whose cumulative GPA is less than 4.00 but is 3.80 or above graduates “magna cum laude,” and one whose cumulative GPA is between 3.60 and 3.80 graduates “cum laude”. These honors are listed on official Cameron University transcripts, and honor graduates are formally recognized at commencement.
